We report the case of a 10 year-old girl who began to suffer from absence seizures at the age of 8. The EEG recordings showed 3-Hz generalized spike-waves. The brain MRI showed a neoplastic lesion in the right thalamus. With the administration of valproic acid a complete seizure control and disappearance of generalized EEG abnormalities was obtained. Our case differs from similar ones in the literature because of the perfect overlapping with a Generalized Idiopathic Epilepsy Syndrome, even if a unilateral thalamic lesion was present.
