Abstract
The authors present a theoretical model which aims to describe a patient's plasmatic clearance and variations of blood volume induced by plasmapheresis. Three tables are presented which with reference to variations of Ht and blood volume, show: the subtraction of blood volume and plasma separated at any cycle; the fraction of plasmatic clearance at any plasmapheresis cycle; the number of cycles needed to reduce the residual patient plasma to 30% of the total circulating plasma. The tables allow an approximate avaluation of the quantity of frozen plasma needed for the treatment.
