Six children who presented with acute idiopathic edema are reported; edema was localized to groin, scrotum and penis. Age ranged from 2 to 10 yr. Clinical features of the affection are described, with particular reference to sudden onset, early recovery and good prognosis without any surgical treatment. Idiopathic edema, which is generally localized to scrotum, sometimes is limited to the skin of penis or groin, so that also young girls can be affected. In view of these considerations, the authors propose a new title for the affection.
