Abstract

Acute scrotum is a common cause of medical evaluation for children and adolescents. Diagnostic delay in case of a testicular torsion can lead to an ischemic damage of the gonad. The medical history and the clinical findings are not always clearly indicative for one cause or another, while the eco-color-doppler will very often be able to provide useful information to guide the diagnosis. Surgical evaluation is essential in every case in which there is a diagnostic dilemma.
