Abstract
Adnexal torsion is a serious cause of acute lower abdominal pain in women. It is a relatively uncommon condition but should be considered in every female patient who has acute pelvic pain. Early diagnosis and prompt surgical intervention are required, and sonologists frequently are asked to exclude this possibility. Color Doppler ultrasonography is the imaging modality of choice to evaluate patients suspected of having adnexal torsion.
