Abstract

Epidemiologists are interested in differences among populations, and in their composition with regard age distribution. The definition of elderly is strongly dependent upon the period and the social context. In this contribution the main epidemiological aspects of cancer in the elderly are discussed, keeping in mind that the ageing process is associated with cancer but does not cause it.
