Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this work is to present the results of a study of orthodontic treatment with resin appliances in a group of 120 patients. Materials and methods: Patch testing was performed before and immediately after completion of the orthodontic treatment to evaluate patient sensitivity to orthodontic resins. Results: We found a statistically significant correlation between pre-treatment and post-treatment patch test positivity. Conclusions: Allergic reactions are becoming an increasing concern for practitioners in health-related fields. To reduce the risk of these events, the patient history should include investigation of allergies to certain materials and patients should be specifically questioned about previous allergic reactions to such materials.
