We describe the case of a 6 year old boy suffering alternating hemiplegia of childhood. In the first year of life he began to manifest paroxysmal events of hemiplegia associated with nystagmus, dystonic attacks and preserved consciousness. He presents global psychomotor retardation, with hypotonia, poor speech with dysarthria. Metabolic investigations, muscle biopsy, coagulation and kariotype were normal. The EEG did not change during attacks; a photosensitivity was present. MRI revealed cortical dysplastic lesions in the parietal regions.
