An electronic data card for pregnancy and delivery

Abstract

This work concerns itself with the development of automatic procedures which are able to manage a medical record of pregnant women and to improve the data exchange using smart card technology, in order to make the health services offered by clinical settings, specialists, general practitioners, family specialists in the obstetricgynaecological area, more efficient. A database has been realized aimed at the management of the data information flow which includes an outpatient's department examinations and lab tests for women during pregnancy and delivery. An electronic data card has been implemented in order to ensure the computerized filing of a large quantity of information, enabling patients, whenever they come in touch with the health structure, to carry their health and clinical data with them and let them read and revise it at any moment. The obstetric-gynaecological medical record has been reduced in order to enable storage on a smart card, which is at the moment a chip card and will in the future become a hybrid card (chip and optical).
