Abstract

Examined the more recent literature on the post-stroke-depression, valued the influence of this on the higher cortical functions, considered that the same bases of the rehabilitation are founded on the learning in pathological conditions and therefore on the cognitive potentialities of the subject with stroke, we analyzed the strategies of evaluation and recovery of the cognitive functions, through the therapeutic exercise, with venlafaxyne treatment antidepressant, contemplated the reduction of the negative influence of the depression on the cognitive potentialities, essential pre- requisite for all the programs of rehabilitation. So there are present the results of a randomized, controlled, double blinded clinical trial, whose aim is studying influence of antidepressant treatment with venlafaxyne on outcome. Data relating cognitive function performances, choice multiple time, neuropsychological tests, confirm that treatment with venlafaxine was effective.
