Abstract

Superselective angiography of duodeno-pancreatic artery was performed in a two years old child with recurrent hypoglycemia and hyperinsulinism. It has been possible this way to demonstrate three hypervascularized areas in pancreas tail. In the twenty month period following the partial pancretectomy, hypoglycemia has not been present and all symptoms recovered. Histologic study of pancreas tail displayed the presence of abnormal proliferation of not capsuled insular tissue in the same areas appearing hyperemic at the direct examination of the pancreas. The peculiarity of the case and the therapy of hyperinsulinism in childhood are discussed.
