Abstract

Anterior temporal spikes, often regarded as suggestive of temporal lobe epilepsy, have been recently associated with amygdala atrophy. To look for possible relationships between such scalp interictal paroxysms (phase reversal at F7/F8) and clinical ictal temporal patterns, we reviewed electroclinical features of 160 adult patients affected by partial epilepsy. Since anterior tempolal spikes were found related to temporal lobe(mesial or neocortical) seizures as well as to frontal lobe ones, we thing they can't assist in differentiating among seizure origins.
