The author reports on the effects of the anticoagulant and fibrinolytic therapy as regards prophylaxis and treatment. It is possible to obtain an adequate antithrombotic effect independently from reaching of abnormally low coagulative values. It is emphasized that the maximum value of anticoagulant therapy is the preventive one, especially with respect to the venous system. As regards fibrinolytic therapy, from the point of view of prevention. The data of experimental pathology shows an inversely proportional relationship between the presence of fibrinolytic activity in the vessel wall and the predisposition to atheromatosis.
