Abstract
The safety profile of antihistamines during breastfeeding is largely variable. New second generation antihistamines are preferable because of reduced side effects on the central nervous system and heart. Among old first generation antihistamines, hydroxyzine, diphenhydramine and promethazine could be regarded as a first choice during breastfeeding.
