Apparent Dissociation Constants of Some Possible Uracil Metabolites of Methylxanthines

The apparent dissociation constants for uracil metabolites of methylxanthines have been determined by following the change of extinction coefficient of the ultraviolet spectra of compounds in different ionized states as a function of pH. The relationship between observed spectral changes and ionization state is discussed. A summary picture is reported for all caffeine metabolites.
