Abstract
Patients with epilepsy have a higher incidence of psychiatric disorders more than non epileptic individuals. Disturbances, such as depression, irritability, personality abnormalities with consequent disorders of interpersonal relations, probably result from a variety of facts, as reactions of social and familiar network, AED therapy, brain damage. We studied a group of 28 patients affected by drug-resistant partial epilepsy, evaluated for epilepsy surgery, by means of clinical interview and standardized psychodiagnostic protocol. A high incidence (63,4%) of psychiatric disorders was disclosed.
