119 patients with histological patterns of atypical dysplasia and microinvasive carcinoma or carcinoma in situ have been examined retrospectively. In this way the authors were able to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of cytology and colposcopy, also in relation with the age of the patients. They underline the role and complementarity of these diagnostic procedures for high diagnostic sensitivity.
