We describe the atypical clinical, neurophysiological and neuroradiological features of two Italian families with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy. The cases we report seem to confirm that familial mesial temporal lobe epilepsies (FMTE) may be largely heterogeneous from the clinical, neuroradiological and, possibly, genetic point of view.
