The papers provides a synthetic overview of benign and idiopathic epilepsies. They include a variety of convulsive disorders, which often have a well recognised molecular basis analgenetic inheritance. They include neonatal and infant benign convulsions, benign myoclonic epilepsy and juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, benign epilepsy with rolondic and occipital spikes, the idiopathic generalized epilepsy and others.
