Abstract

Incidence of varicocele in the male population is 15%; 20% of cases are bilateral. Twenty-four bilateral varicocele patients were treated with bilateral laparoscopic varicocelectomy. Spermatic veins were dissected free at the internal inguinal ring, clipped and cut. The spermatic artery was preserved in all but one case. Mean follow-up was 7.2 months. Follow-up included colour Doppler of spermatic vessels and seminal analysis. Two cases (8,3%) showed recurrent varicocele at three-month follow-up. Laparoscopic varicocelectomy is a safe and effective procedure for bilateral varicocele.
