A biodegradable composite cell delivery system was developed as a potential way to enhance construct mechanical stability, cell delivery into the wound, and tissue integration. Composites were cultured for up to 4 weeks. Standard biochemical and histological techniques were used for analysis. Viable, sturdy composites were formed within 5 minutes of cell seeding. Composites doubled their cell number content, and maintained cartilaginous phenotype for up to 4 weeks in culture.
