Abstract

The analgesic activity of surgical wound infiltration with bupivacaine chloridrate (Marcaine, Pierrel) during the post-surgery period was evaluated in patients undergoing a standard surgical procedure. This randomized study was carried out in 120 patients (40 cholecystectomies, 40 abdominal hernias, 40 appendicectomies) aged 15-70. Sixty patients were given bupivacaine, the control group was given analgesic drugs if necessary. The pain was evaluated every 4 hours from the awakening of anesthesia until 24 hours; afterwards every 12 hours until 48 hours. The difference between the 2 groups is highly significative (p
