Abstract
Advances in the therapy of cancer and the multidisciplinary approach for treatment allows to an improved care of the patient with cancer pain. The Authors describe the epidemiology, the clinical assessment and the methods of measurement of pain. They list the common acute and chronic pain syndromes that may occur in patients with cancer. They indicate a correct management of cancer pain, incorporating treatment of the cancer disease combined with analgesic drug therapy and/or anesthetic, neurosurgical, rehabilitative and psycologic methods.
