Abstract

Capsule enteroscopy is a new diagnostic tool for the endoscopic examination of the small bowel, which has been introduced in the clinical practice since mid-2001. It consists of a swallowable capsule containing a miniaturised recording system which obtains a high-quality videofilm. Indications are any suspected lesion of the small bowel, such as vascular lesions, tumors, inflammatory lesions, malabsorbtive diseases.
