Abstract
Caveolins, essential scaffold proteins of caveolae, have emerged as versatile molecules that can influence numerous signaling pathways and disease processes. This brief review is focused on the role of caveolins in the physiology and pathology of musculoskeletal system and will discuss the key features of caveolins as related to differentiation and diseases of bone and muscle cells.
