Characterization of specific binding sites for inositolhexakisphosphate in the anterior pituitary

Abstract

The binding of [3H]inositolhexakisphosphate ([3H]InsP6) has been characterized in rat anterior pituitaries membranes. [3H]InsP6 binds to a single population of recognition sites. Half maximal binding is observed after 2-5 min of incubation and binding is still present after 30-40 min. Other inositol polyphosphates appear to be only weak inhibitors of [3H]InsP6 binding.
