Abstract

Thie proteins involved in cell cycle progression have proven to he involved in several aspects of growth control. Sever.il jelatives of the prototypir cell <vcle kinase, cdc2. exist in mammalian cells. We have previously cloned two mernher.s of the cdc2 family named PISSLRF and PITALRF,. The PISSLRF kinase appears to mimic some of t lie characteristic:- of cdc2. We present here by transfection and rnirroinjection that PISSLRF. kinase activity is necessary for G2 phase progression and that endogenous PISSI.RK is able to phosphorylate historiéHi. However. PISSI.RK differs from ai ticular cellular functions and further promote the importance of this diverse family of kinases.
