Abstract
In a double-blind controlled study, 40 outpatients with irritable bowel syndrome were randomly treated for 40 days either with a combination of octatropine methylbromide and diazepam (Valpinax) or with placebo. The assessment of symptomatic improvement during and after the treatment showed a highly significant difference between active drug and placebo (P <0.01). No clinical side-effects were observed.
