Abstract
The relationships between some indexes obtained by analysis of the pulmonary nitrogen clearance and the results of common tests of bronchial obstruction were studied in normal subjects and in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The indexes considered in the present investigation (lung clearance index, pulmonary clearance delay) were correlated with spirometric and plethysmographic data (static lung volumes, forced expiratory volume in one second, airway resistance or analogous data). The results obtained in the present study are briefly discussed. (Journal received: 25 March 1976)
