Abstract

Our purpose is to determine predictors of outcome among a population with infantile onset epilepsy who underwent surgical therapy. We examined the outcome and described clinical feature of 551 patients, subdivided into 5 infantile age-onset groups, operated on at "C. Munari, Center for Epilepsy Surgery". The results suggest unfavorable outcomes in <1year-onset patients, probably due to high seizure frequency, extra-temporal localization and multifocal cortical malformations. These data must be considered for a better presurgical selection of patients or prediction of outcome.
