Abstract
Comorbidity is a peculiar clinical characteristic of elderly patients related to an age-related increased of chronic diseases. Epidemiological evidences demonstrate that comorbidity is strictly correlated to a high rate of hospitalization, disability and mortality. These findings are crucial to characterize the geriatric patient, and therefore, the frailty. In fact, the comorbidity, the disability and the frailty represent three clinical aspects that, if evaluated with the multidimensional approach, are able to define the age-related clinical severity and complexity.
