Comparison between isotropic and anisotropic constitutive models for a three-dimensional stress analysis of a knee ligament

Abstract

A comparison, in the stress assessment within the tissue, between two different constitutive models for ligaments, was carried out. In particular, an anisotropic model and an isotropic model were compared. It was observed that both models are suited for the description of the typical stiffening behavior displayed by natural tissues.
