The authors have proposed to assess the effects of two mycolytic drugs: 4-carbometossitiazolidin and N-acetyl-L-cysteine in a group of 15 patients, male, average age 62 (±10.3), with chronic obstructive lung disease, by a double blind controlled trial. Each drug was administered, in equivalent doses, twice per day during seven days. The assessement of functional respiratory parameters, of emogasanalytical, haematologic and objective values show that 4-carbometossitiazolidin is a well tolerated drug with mycolytic effect like N-acetyl-L-cysteine now regarded as one of the most effective mucolytic drugs.
