Abstract

The authors discuss first the meaning of compulsive-obsessional symptoms in childhood. They introduce the problem of differential diagnosis between obsessional neurosis and depressive disorders complicated by obsessions and psychotic mechanisms. They refer on 4 cases with compuslive-obsessional symptomatology, each of them showing a different structural level: respectively organic psychosis, prepsychosis, obsessional neurosis, and cyclic depression with obsessions. Therapeutic and prognostic addresses are proposed on the ground of structural evaluation.
