Abstract
The authors present a case of conjoined twins, which can be classified as 'pygopagus, tetrabrachius trypus'; other abnormalities are present, as epispadia, extrophy of the bladder and ano-rectal artresia. The peculiarity of this case is emphasized, with reference to the pathogenesis and to the physio-pathological problems concerning the anatomical findings. The authors propose a modified classification of the birth defects inherent to twins. The possibility of an intra-uterine diagnosis of this congenital malformation is discussed.
