Abstract

The authors, after a short description of the current therapeutic trend concerning those clinical conditions characterized by the clinical absence of cervical lymphnodes metastases in head and neck malignant epithelial tumors, report their observations about 227 Functional Neck Dissection which have been carried out during the last ten years. From the evaluations of the false negatives (62 cases or 27.31%) and of their distribution, comes the opportunity of considering that this happens about once over three times; new and more selected studies will be able to make new progresses on the efforts for solving this problem.
