Abstract
Epileptic manifestations are a common feature of neurometabolic disorders. The diagnostic problems posed by neurometabolic disorders with seizures vary with the age of the patients. On the basis of age at onset we have classified two groups of metabolic diseases with epilepsy. The first group is characterized by an early onset with severe acute or with epileptic manifestation first of all. The second group shows seizures at a late age (3 months-3 years) following normal development. We presented clinical and electroclinical patterns characterizing each group and our cases. The precise biochemical diagnosis is important in order to insure adequate therapy and genetic counseling.
