Abstract

Serum GGT were estimed in 81 women (normal, obese and diabetic) free of liver disease and without chronic consumption of alcohol or drugs. A significant positive correlation was found between GGT activity and serum triglycerides, cholesterol and glucose concentration. Controls of obese and diabetic women (n=36) after 20 days with low carbohydrate diet suggest that these correlations may reflect induction in hepatic microsomial enzymes.
