The current legislation laying down the regulations on pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, forbids the use of cosmetics in any therapeutic capacity, as opposed to the pharmaceutical products which may perform a cosmetic function. However, difficult as it may be for the former to have a healing effect on minor skin complaints the pharmaceutical products for topical use often have too strong an effect. This gap needs to be filled by a new category of 'parma-cosmetic' products which should be available to the physicians so as to guarantee the necessary clinical reliability also to the dermocosmetic therapy.
