Abstract
Some of our previous studies showed a striking regulationship between vitiligo and cystinuria: increased excretion of cystine was observed with similar frequency in 309 vitiligo patients (132 positives) and 142 healthy-families (59 positives); but, on the contrary, cystinuria was found only in one of 142 health-controls. Cystinuria is a autosomal recessive disease, with incidence of one per 5,000-10,000 subjects.
