Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

The authors suggest a classification of antimycobacterial drugs, grouping them as first or second choice drugs, in agreement with literature data. The different modalities of treatment followed in the last few decades, connected with the different availability of antituberculous drugs, are recalled. Particular attention is paid to the so called 'short course treatment' of tuberculosis, since in recent years it has been indicated as the most reliable modality of therapy of tuberculosis. In this chemotherapeutic scheme the validity of the use of pyrazinamide in association with streptomycin has been reassessed. Personal data, concerning the results obtained with the 'short course treatment' are presented.
