A dedicated stereotaxic table for breast core biopsy is presented (Lorad, Danbury, Conn), with patients in the prone position. This digital system reduces the examination time, provides images with high contrast resolution and biopsy specimens are accessible via different routes. Its cost, its low spatial resolution, the small field of view (5 x 5 cm) and its inability to reach lesions located close to the chest wall or in the axilla are the major disadvantages of this material.
