By using solid-state nuclear track detectors arranged in 2π geometry we collected 27 events due to the radioactive decay of 228Th by 20O emission. The partial half-life is (5.29 ± 1.01) × 1020 s and the branching ratio relative to α decay is (1.13 ± 0.22) × 10-13. This is the first case of observation of spontaneous emission of oxygen clusters from nuclei.
