Abstract

The dissection of neurovascular bundle by means of a microsurgical centrifugal technique should be utilised in any case in which a free access to the dorsal surface of corpora cavernosa is necessary. Glans numbness, oedema and, in some cases, areas of ischemia are the most common complaints in penile surgery and lesions of the neurovascular bundle are the main responsible for these complications. The operating microscope allows an atraumatic and gentle manipulation of the tissues and greatly reduces the risk of complications and improves the percentage of success. A centrifugal dissection starting from the deep dorsal vein allows sparing of nerves and arteries because of their clear identification under direct sight control.
