Abstract

Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) was estimated in 16 patients with resistent ascites form liver cirrhosis, treated reinfusion of the concentrated ascites fluid. In most patients, clinically inapparent DIC was demonstrated by determination of some parameters of coagulation. Strikingly positive correlation between presence of FDP in ascitic fluid and DIC was should; therefore FDP determination in ascites fluid is proposed as a routine test during every exploratory paracentesis.
