Abstract
The limulus-test was performed on the plasma and CSF of patients with suspected meningeal involvement in the course of salmonellosis. Whereas the limulus-test was irregularly positive in plasma, the same test on CSF was regularly positive only in patients in which suspection of Salmonella meningitis was confirmed by clinical studies and by the biochemical and cytological changes in the CSF. The test on CSF was negative in salmonellosis patients without meningitis and in patients suffering from gram-positive bacterial meningitis.
