Abstract
The Italian Health Ministry funded a two-year project (2005-2007): The neurology portal. Networks of centres of excellence in the sphere of neurological rehabilitation. Its aim was twofold: 1) to set up a network of centres of excellence in neurological rehabilitation in order to test clinical models geared at optimising continuity of care; 2) to create models of information-sharing and communication aimed mainly at local healthcare professionals, but also at patients, associations of healthcare consumers and, not least, at scientific journalists. This article presents the prototype of the online library created for two diseases: headache and Parkinson's disease. The purpose of this library was to provide non-experts with a source of accessible and reliable information, thereby protecting them against the infinite well of information that is the internet, where it is possible to find everything, but where everything is liable to be contradicted.
