Effectiveness of impatients multiple sclerosis rehabilitation

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate effectiveness of rehabilitation treatment in a group of MS patients consecutively admitted to a rehabilitation hospital. We studied 110 primary and secondary MS patients according to Poser criteria and Confavreux type, with a mean age of 49.33+11.03 and a mean disease duration of 16.14+9.08. At admission EDSS score was 7.0+1.45 SD; Barthel Index (Bl) was 50.59+29.11 SD and Rivermead Mobility Index (RMI) 3.69+4.07 SD No patient showed worsening during the hospital stay. The patients were stratified according to MS severity in three groups: autonomous patients (n=12; EDSS score 7).
