Effects of activated platelet concentrates on fibroblasts, osteoblasts, and endothelial cell cultures

Abstract

The effects of platelet gel on the cultures of fibroblasts, osteoblasts and bone endothelial cells was analyzed. The platelet concentrates (APC), activated with bovine thrombin, were added to the cells in serum-free medium. Alkaline phosphatase activity was also tested on osteoblasts (OB) from human trabecular bone lysates by a colorimetric assay. It was observed that there was a slight effect of APC both on fibroblast and on OB proliferation and function.
