Abstract
Intravenous infusion of prostaglandin A1 at hypotensive dosage into reserpinized dogs increased plasma glucose and FFA levels and lowered the rate of glucose disappearance following glucose loading. Total insulin response was enhanced while insulinogenic index was not significantly affected by PGA1. The role of the adrenergic system as mediator of the foregoing metabolic effects of PGA1 is discussed.
